Summary of President Obama's speech :
In his speech he highlights how we as a society are overrun with information and how every minute of news is fed to us through amounts of different ways broadcasting information. He also calls for us to learn adapt to these new ways of information processing and management. He calls for us to absorb the vast amount of technology on offer to us that can help with our day to day lives.
He also highlights the importance of authentic sources as we now live in a place where opinion has exploded and we struggle to differentiate between fact and fiction. he also says we should make use of the public services such as libraries and universities to assist us in finding reliable sources of information.
He calls for us to use Information Literacy Awareness Month to display to people its vital importance in society and he encourage educational institutions to do all they call to display its importance.

Term 1
Data Technologies :
A unit of the course where i struggle the most but i feel this is down to my own lack of contribution and laziness. At first i found it way to complex and never really thought id really understand it , but after taking the time to look at the work in my own time , its perhaps not as difficult as i thought.
Digital Communications:
Digi Comms is a unit which i think is quite simple and havnt really come across anything that is to complex. Digi Comms is a fairly interesting unit which at the moment covers rules and regulation e.g Plagiarism.
Media Making:
A very technical area of the course and maybe not a unit iam not naturally acustom but i think over time i will adapt to it. There is alot of code to get your head around which can be pretty frightening at times but its just a matter of taking the time to learn it.
MISO:
A group based seminar where i feel ive done alot of this work before (Business A-Level) it is probably one of my stronger units as i feel i have an advantage having done similar kind of work before (Functional Areas Etc.) but not something that is of a personal interest to me.
Network Society:
The Network Society looks in detail at the how we have developed into a technological society that relies heavily on social networking and the internet. At the moment it is fairly interesting , although i feel as the course progresses it will appeal to me on a personal level.
Technology , Communications and the Media:
TCM is one of the units where i feel i peform better as it appeals to me personally , recently we have looked at media coverage of the war. I have compelted a bibliography on the history of photography which i found interesting and i hope to develop in the coming term.
